An earthquake of 5.1 magnitude occurred in Bursa province of northwestern Turkey on Monday morning.

The earthquake was centered in the Sea of Marmara and was felt in the nearby metropolis of Istanbul.

“So far, we have not received any negative news from Mudanya and Gemlik. However, related teams are actively present in the area,” Bursa Governor Mahmut Demirtas told Anadolu Agency (AA): .”

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said the earthquake occurred 4.73 kilometers (3 miles) off the coast of Mudanya district in Bursa at a depth of about 8.98 kilometers (5.58 miles) below sea level.

Another 4.5 magnitude earthquake hit the same place 3 minutes later.
